A giclée is a print using fade-resistant, archival inks and archival substrates. The archival canvas and inks I use are among the finest available. The dynamic range is superior even to photographic paper prints resulting in brilliant colors, rich, deep blacks and pure whites. It is a textured, heavy duty canvas that gives my work a more “painterly” look.
I coat the canvas using a specially formulated satin-finish varnish (also archival) which provides the ultimate in UV resistance, scuff protection and anti-fungal agents for high humidity environments. By using archival products throughout the process, you can be assured the canvas pieces I produce will last for generations without any discernible fading. And without the need for glass for protection, glare and loss of clarity are eliminated.
Below is a summary of the formats I offer using canvas:
Single Panel Gallery Wrapped
Each panel is a gallery-wrapped canvas on a 1.5” deep frame. “Gallery wrapped” means the canvas is stretched taut and wrapped completely around to the back of the frame. The sides are a mirror image of the picture giving the image a wonderful ‘3D’ effect.
Gallery Wrapped Triptychs
Triptych is a Greek word meaning three panels. Each panel of my canvas triptychs is a gallery-wrapped (see above) canvas on a 1.5” deep frame. My triptych technique is unique - on interior panel sides, I print a portion of the panel next to it resulting in you being able to see the complete image while viewing from almost anywhere in the room!
I offer this intriguing format only on select images - click here to go to the Canvas Triptych page.
Mounted Canvas Giclées
(Shown with optional linen inner frame)
Canvas when mounted and framed has the elegant look of a classic painting. I mount the canvas giclée on the sturdiest foam-center board available using a strong, durable and acid-free adhesive then finish the piece with your choice of outer frame: Walnut Burl, Cherry, Honey Pecan, or Satin Black. Because canvas is not susceptible to moisture this framing technique does not require glass thereby eliminating annoying glare and loss of clarity.
The 24 x 34 size is a numbered limited edition, available optionally with an elegant 3” black or beige linen liner. These limited editions are only available for select images. Overall Dimensions with Linen Liner: Horizontal Image - 44” wide x 34” tall; Vertical Image - 34” wide x 44” tall. Without Linen Liner: Horizontal Image - 38” wide x 28” tall; Vertical Image - 28” wide x 38” tall.
