Images of the Month - October 2004
An Adirondack Adventure
While exhibiting my work at an art show in the heart of the Adirondacks
(Lake Placid), I had the splendid opportunity to hike to the top of
Silver Lake Mountain one morning before the show opened. Starting
out at the trailhead in the dark armed with my headlamp and photo
gear, I climbed quickly and arrived at the top just before sunrise -
ahhhhhhhhh, what a wonderful way to start my day!

“Silver Lake Swirls”
Silver Lake Mountain, Adirondacks, NY
On this cool, crisp August Adirondack morning, an ethereal mist danced lightly upon the surface of sleepy Silver Lake.

“Verdant View” - Adirondack Mountains, NY
A carpet of green lushness, its treetops anointed with first sun, stretched into the distance as far the eye could see. While Silver Lake Mountain may not be especially tall when measured simply in feet, it ranks up there among the tallest mountains when viewsheds are taken into consideration.

“Purple Pinecones” - Silver Lake Mountain
While savoring my own unique version of aromatherapy (immersing myself in a grove of young balsam firs), I noticed these purple pinecones - the immature pinecone of the balsam fir.  For all my time spent hiking among balsam trees, I had never noticed these purple marvels before.

Thanks for looking! I post these images for two reasons: (1) for those who are interested in seeing my latest work and (2) because they are a great way for me to guage reaction. Due to the significant investment in printing images, I often hold off going into the darkroom until I get your reactions.
>>>> I would greatly appreciate your feedback - now.
