Images of the Month - March 2004
Winter in Red Rock Country
There is something compelling about a blanket of white in red rock
country. Maybe it's how it contrasts so nicely with the red rock and
deep blue skies. Maybe it's the novelty of snow in the desert.
Whatever it is, I love red rock country in winter.

“Brumal Bryce” - Bryce Canyon, Utah
Heat generated by the plants melts the snow at their base creating potholes in the snowcover and a beautiful, natural winter garden, complimenting the incredible Claron sandstone formations in the distance.

“La Sal Winter” - La Sal Mountains, Utah
High above the desert floor, the La Sal Mountains thrust themselves toward the sky to more than 13,000 feet.  All winter, the La Sals are snow-covered and a magical place to be with incredible views of the snowless red rock far below (see “Castle Valley View” below).

Thanks for looking! I post these images for two reasons: (1) for those who are interested in seeing my latest work and (2) because they are a great way for me to guage reaction. Due to the significant investment in printing images, I often hold off going into the darkroom until I get your reactions.
>>>> I would greatly appreciate your feedback - now.
