Images of the Month - January 2004
Romantic Fantasies

Who among us has not fantasized about spending time alone on a remote desert isle (well maybe not totally alone <grin>)?  And who among us is not a sucker for a good romantic legend?  If it’s you, then read no further, if not, continue below. A tip of the ‘ol champagne glass to hoping that these images and tales help you all get through the coldest month in the Northern Hemisphere with just a little bit more warmth on the inside.

“Ohi’a Lehua” - Big Island, Hawai’i

One of the first plants to colonize areas recently covered in lava, Ohi’a Lehua’s gorgeous red and white blossoms are in stark contrast to the otherwise otherworldly-ness of the area (and even of the plant itself, all crooked and gray!). Click here to read the romantic Hawai’ian legend about this beautiful tree.

“Island Dreams” - Kaua’i, Hawai’i

All it takes is a little determination to get away from the flocking beach crowds on the Isle of Kaua’i.  What would I do without these two sturdy legs that can so quickly and easily take me far away both literally and figuratively from the madding crowds? -- here I felt like I was the sole inhabitant on a remote desert isle.

Thanks for looking! I post these images for two reasons: (1) for those who are interested in seeing my latest work and (2) because they are a great way for me to guage reaction. Due to the significant investment in printing images, I often hold off going into the darkroom until I get your reactions.
>>>> I would greatly appreciate your feedback - now.
