From late summer into fall, rich color abounds in wild meadows and fields even before the leaves turn, in the form of showy wildflowers. The top image features my favorite wildflower of all, the New England aster, contrasting nicely here with a goldenrod backdrop. In the lower image, goldenrod is the star, beautifully framing the curve of a well-weathered fallen tree.
