Wilderness Beckons...
 March 2008

Top Image - to me, canoes have always been great symbols of adventure. For the nature lover, they are a most  elegant conveyance in which to leave civilization behind and explore the wilderness. What’s even better, is that it’s under my own power generating no noise or pollution. Once I am under way I find all my senses heightened—I can ‘feel’ more in one mile of canoeing than I ever could in a thousand miles by car. With these thoughts in mind I photographed these canoes just waiting to be slid into the water and paddled into the unknown.

Lower Image - what a wonderful place to just plunk onesself down and ponder the the great unknown just beyond the end of the lake. The wild for me is always that which is just out of sight, beckoning me to keep coming to see what is around the next bend, over the next ridge or beyond the next treeline.
